- Thanks for the A2A. Surprisingly well. Memory is the biggest roadblock and I have had people struggle with 4 GB of RAM but not have any trouble with the 8 GB version.
- Will Photoshop and Indesign or Lightroom run effectively on a MacBook Air with these specs? 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 (Broadwell) 8GB of 1600 MHz LPDDR3 RAM 512GB PCIe-Based Flash Storage Integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000 I was told by the customer service rep at the store I want to buy from that the.
- I had no issues with photoshop when I tried an Air for two weeks. I'd had preferred more RAM, but for most photoshop jobs 2GB suffices. Contrary to belief photoshop does not require an amazing amount of graphics power to run well, just RAM and processor. 2GB works well, unless you're running a lot of background apps with photoshop, which will still run okay just slower (obviously).
How does Adobe Creative Suite 5 running on a MacBook Air perform? Photoshop boots near instantly, and working on 200MB files is no problem at all for the Air. Screen re-draw is smooth, file saving is rocket fast, and filters run at acceptable speeds. System requirements for running the latest release of Photoshop on macOS and Windows.
I'd suggest you a) check out the technical specifications on both Machines and then also b) check out benchmark testing on both.
As a general observation, a fast i7 processor is best with that kind of app as well as lots of RAM (the new OS versions all require far more RAM and so does Adobe), so 16 GB would be a minimum.
And, a laptop is designed for portability, not necessarily processing power (unless it's a top model Macbook Pro).
Pick a model you're considering and check out the specs, then do the same with iMacs:

If you're using one of these computers with OS X Mavericks or later, you can install macOS Catalina. Your Mac also needs at least 4GB of memory and 12.5GB of available storage space, or up to 18.5GB of storage space when upgrading from OS X Yosemite or earlier. Learn how to upgrade to macOS Catalina.
